A funeral service for Mr. James Leon Murray, was held on Friday, April 12, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. at Rose-Neath Funeral Home in Homer. Burial will follow at Holly Ridge Cemetery. Bro. Doyce Whitten will officiate. Visitation was held from 10:00 a.m. until service time on Friday, prior to the service.

James was born on December 15, 1947, in Haynesville, LA to James and Josephine Mason Murray. He entered into rest on April 8, 2024, in Homer, LA. James was a member of New Beginnings Baptist Church. James proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy. He also served his community for 21 years with Claiborne Parish Fire District #6. James loved NASCAR, fishing, and adored his family. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend to all that knew him, and will be greatly missed by all.

James is preceded in death by his parents James and Josephine Murray, wife Linda Kay Roe Murray, and sister Linda Kay Caples.

Left to cherish his memory is his sons Joseph Murray and wife Tammy, and Jamie Murray and wife Teresa, grandchildren Tia Murray, Ryan Murray, Cassidy Coats and husband Danny, Samantha Williams and husband Kaden, Hunter Shaffer, and Marshall Faulk, by 12 great grandchildren, and by numerous other family and friends. 

Pallbearers were Ryan Murray, Danny Coats, Hunter Shaffer, Sage Boyette, Kevin Higginbotham, Ken Bethany, Jakie Hutchinson, Benny Esterling, and Scott Allison.
