James Charles Heflin "Cotton"

James Charles Heflin “Cotton”, 74, was born on September 22, 1950 in Vivian, Louisiana to Elmer Lewis Heflin and Linnie Lerlene Varnell and passed away Thursday, May 29, 2025 at his residence in Oil City, Louisiana.

Cotton enjoyed hunting deer and fishing op lines in Caddo Lake. He worked his whole life in the oil field. The last 20 years of his career, he spent working for Danny McCormick, a true and dear friend to him. Cotton loved his family with his whole heart and will be missed.

He is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Phyllis Ann Helfin; son, Calvin Louis Heflin; brothers, Marvin Heflin and Johnny Heflin and sisters, Charlotte Roberts, Margaret Bridges, Shirley Lloyd and Sandra Hickey. Left to cherish his memory are his son, Wayne Helfin and wife, Tessa of Shongaloo, Louisiana; daughter, Crystal Furgerson of Oil City, Louisiana; daughter-in-law, Angela Smith; grandsons, Blake Heflin and wife, Rayne, Michael Heflin and Dakota Smith; granddaughters, Miranda Smith, Dixie Heflin, Lillie Heflin and Emma Heflin and great-grandson, Waylon Helfin.
