He served at Marine Corps Air Station Cherry Point, NC where he flew F-4 Corsairs to ensure they were operational before being sent back to the fleet. When his 2-year enlistment was up, he celebrated with his friends with a night out on the town. When he woke up the next morning, he discovered that he had enlisted in the United States Navy as a Machinist's Mate. He served in San Diego, CA on the USS Sperry for 2 years. In his younger days, James was a well-known billiards player and bowler, as well as an avid fisherman. He was also the luckiest poker player you ever met, a source of considerable anger and admiration from his friends. Pallbearers will be James Frey, Johnathan Frey, Bubba Morris, Trey Morris, Brian Miller, and Shawn Payne. Visitation will be 5 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, October 18, 2018 at Rose-Neath Southside.
