He served for seven years on the Shreveport City Council and had been Justice of the Peace for 12 years. James was a faithful member of Christ United Methodist Church where he was a Sunday School teacher for the Joy Sunday School class. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. James was preceded in death by his parents, Doyle and Lucille Flurry of Homer, LA; brothers, Harold and Billy Flurry. Beautiful memories will be shared by his wife of 52 years, Patricia Gross Flurry of Shreveport, LA; his daughter, Dr. Angela Sherman and her husband Ray Sherman of Tomball ,TX; his son, James Flurry, Jr. and his wife Brandy of Shreveport, LA; three grandchildren, McKinley Sherman, Jack Sherman, and Claire Flurry; brothers, Bob Flurry and his wife Judy of Ferriday, LA ; Charlie Flurry and his wife Bonnie of Magnolia, AR; and a very special brother-in-law, Ricky Gross and his wife Shelia of Keithville, LA; and numerous nieces and nephews. Honorary pallbearers will be Willie Bradford, Mario Chavez, Dwight Fugate, Les Micheaelis, Harold Sader, John Settle, and Curtis William. The family extends their heartfelt thanks to Dr. Raj Gandhi and Dr. Veluvolu for the professional and loving care shown to James.
