Logansport, LA - Funeral services honoring the life of James "Jim" Elkins, Jr., 76, will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, December 23, 2018, at Rose-Neath Chapel in Logansport, LA with Rev. Dean Register officiating. Burial will follow at Cool Springs Cemetery, Logansport, LA. The family will receive friends at Rose-Neath Funeral Home on Saturday, December 22, 2018, from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m.
Jim was born January 16, 1942 in Whiteville, NC. He was preceded in death by baby boy Elkins; his parents, James B. Elkins, Sr. and Ruth Elkins; and sisters, Doris Howard and Edith Fisher.
He is survived by his wife, Gartha Horn Elkins; son, Mark Elkins; daughter, Marilyn McLemore; grandson, Justin Adkinson; granddaughter, Sierra Barlow and husband Charles; sisters, Betty Lane, Peggy White, and especially close members of Garland and Willie Horn families, including a number of nieces and nephews.
Jim was in the United States Air Force from 1960 to 1968. After military he worked at AT&T and Lucent Technology and retired after 30 years of service.
Honoring Jim as pallbearers are Clay Marbut, Jerrold Vaughn, Felton Williams, Wes Clark, John Aldridge, Kaleb McClain and Rodney Horn.
