James "Mike" Callender

James “Mike” Callender, 75, passed away at his home in Minden, LA on Saturday, July 5th after multiple health issues.

He was born on November 27, 1949, in Shreveport, LA. He worked in road construction for most of his life. Mike was happiest in his wood shop, fishing or spending time with his precious grandkids and great grandkids. Mike loved his family big and they all loved him big.

Preceded in death by his parents, Margaret Woods Callender (Mam-mam) and EC Callender (Papaw). Also, his wife of many years, Minna Irene Callender, who he’s missed since February 2008. Sister, Frances (Frank) Aultman and brother Ronnie (Peggy) Callender.

He is survived by his sister, Faye Barron and best friend in life, brother-in-law, Gordon Barron. He is also survived by his daughter, Karen (Alan) Dowden; son, Ernest (Linda) Sepulvado, Sr.; daughter, Sherry (Larry) Johnson; special nieces, Tammie Draughon, Robin Culverhouse and daughter Adrienne Woodard, and Regina (Missy) Carathers; his grandkids, Courtney Lafitte, Tiffany (Roy) Miller, Corey (Marcy) Sepulvado, Lindsay (Justin) Bush, Ernest (Regan) Sepulvado, Jr. and Brayden (Haiden) Sepulvado, Seth Bell and Amber Johnson, and two special grandkids Hallie Hightower and Hazel Sepulvado, who was always near; 16 great-grandchildren which he loved dearly and a host of nieces and nephews..

We want to thank Courtney Delaney at Green Clinic for being our constant angel and her love for us. Also Bienville Medical Center nurses, therapists who spoiled him rotten and worked him hard. Steve and Hope Prosthetics, Brint Fegley and WK Cardiology.

A visitation will be held Wednesday, July 9, 2025, from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. at Rose Neath Funeral Home in Minden, Louisiana. Graveside services will be held Thursday, July 10, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. a.m. at Aimwell Cemetery in Zwolle, Louisiana.

Pallbearers will be Alan Dowden, Ernest Sepulvado, Sr., Larry Johnson, Seth Bell, Corey Sepulvado, Ernie Sepulvado, Jr., Brayden Sepulvado, Jeremy Pearce, and Earl Pearce.
