James Hue Bayne

James Hue Bayne passed away on Wednesday, November 14, 2018 at Summer Meadows Nursing Home in Longview, TX, where he had lived since January of 2013. Mr. Bayne, 81, was born January 5, 1937 in Shreveport, LA to Frances and John Bayne. He was employed at Centerpoint Energy for 40 years in many capacities. He was a member of Westview Christian Church in Shreveport, LA for 50 years and Longview Christian Church for the last five years. On February 21, 1959, James married Dorothy Ledbetter Bayne in Shreveport, LA. Two sons, James Gregory Bayne and Troy Alan Bayne, were born to this union. His mother, Frances; his father, John; and sister, Barbara Purpera, preceded him in death. Survivors include his wife, Dorothy Bayne of Longview, TX; sons, Greg and Diana Bayne of Longview, TX; and Troy and Judy Bayne of Longview, TX. Also surviving are grandchildren, Jonathan and Lindsey Bayne, Haley and Sam Van Sandt, Stephanie Bayne, Kristin and Luke Ho, Allison Bayne and great-grandchildren, Sophie Van Sandt, Jackson James Bayne, Levi Van Sandt, Jesse Dean Bayne. Also surviving are sisters, Ellen Tucker of Huntsville, TX and Thelma Schwartz of Mims, FL; aunt, Lorene Suggs and brother-in-law, Hucky Purpera, both of The Woodlands, TX; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. The family is especially grateful for the care and compassion shown by the staff of Summer Meadows and Heartsway Hospice. Mr. Bayne had chosen to participate in the willed-body donor program through the Southwestern Medical Society of Texas. There will be a visitation from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Sunday, November 18, 2018 at Rose-Neath Southside, 2500 Southside Dr., Shreveport, LA. Memorial services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, November 19, 2018 at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be Luke Ho, Sam Van Sandt, Jonathan Bayne, Randy Arendell, and Pat Suggs.
