Jacquelyn Till Bailey

Jacquelyn Till Bailey went to be with her Lord and Savior on November 9, 2023, at the age of 89.  Jesus opened His loving arms and said, “Welcome home, my good and faithful servant.”  Oh, how we wish we could have seen her meet Jesus face to face along with reuniting with the love of her life, Poppy (O. K. Bailey or Doc)!

Jacquelyn (Jackie or Mimmy) was born in Pineville, Louisiana on July 16, 1934 to Frankie Alma Till and Robert Lee Till.  She graduated from Bolton High School in Alexandria, Louisiana and attended Louisiana Baptist College where she was crowned May Queen her sophomore year.  It was there she met the love of her life, Kendall Bailey and they married in 1952.

Mimmy never met a stranger and was often seen in Brookshires and Walmart witnessing for Christ with whomever she came in contact. Her genuine and loving spirit was felt by all, and she spent a lifetime of selfless service and being available for any moment’s notice when Doc would invite numerous people or the entire church to their home for Bible study or after church fellowships.

Jackie had a God given talent for singing and playing the piano.  You would often see her singing solos or duets with her sister, Emma Loyce at Queensborough Baptist Church and later at Willow Point Baptist Church. One of Jackie’s favorite passions was leading her young adult ladies Sunday School class with her husband, “Doc.”  Lives were changed and marriages restored through their joint ministry together.  Countless Bible studies and fellowships were often given with love in the home of Jackie Bailey through the 68 years of their marriage.  Jackie was intimately involved and supportive of her husband’s activities with the Fellowship of Christian Athletes and medical mission work in Mexico.  In addition to her service to God and raising four children, she found time to be the Dental Office Manager for Doc’s dental practice.

Jackie had a great sense of humor and kept us laughing all the time.  She even remarked the last day, “Don’t bring all my gowns up here.  I’m not gonna be here that long.  You cannot keep a good woman down!!”

Jackie is preceded in death by her husband, Dr. O. K. Bailey (“Doc”); her parents; her brother, Lee Roy Till and his wife, Hannah; her sister, Emma Loyce Smelley and her husband, Bill.  Jackie is survived by her son, Robert Kendall Bailey, daughters Jan Bailey Hermes, Diann Bailey Charrier (Bill), Donna Bailey Crane (Larry); grandchildren, Dr. Lauren Crane Tucker (Douglas) of Madison, Mississippi; Lindsey Crane Berteau (Micah) of Colleyville, Texas; Landon Bailey Crane of Dallas, Texas; Justin Kendall Hermes (Brandi); Jan Allison Hermes Mills (Tyler); Jodi Michelle Hermes (Holly); William Blake Charrier; Brittani Tilley of Prosper, Texas; Michael Brandon Charrier (Lauren) of Cypress, Texas; 23 great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; and a host of friends. She adored each and everyone of her grandchildren and gave each of them at birth a “Lamb of Life” to cling to.

The family is grateful to Dr. Jimmie Smith, Dr. P. V. Blanchard, and the nurses and staff in ICU and on the fifth and sixth floors of Willis Knighton Pierremont for the loving care she received.  The family also would like to express their love and appreciation to Patricia Ann Burns for the forty years of faithful service she poured into the entire family.  We would also like to express our love and thanks to John Trauth for the expression of love and care to Mimmy.

Honoring Jackie as pallbearers will be Justin Hermes, Brandon Charrier, Landon Crane, Ronnie Hermes, Bill Charrier, and Larry Crane.

Memorial remembrances may be made to the Fellowship of Christian Athletes in Jackie Bailey’s name, P. O. Box 5118, Bossier City, Louisiana 71171.

Visitation will be held at Shreveport Community Church, 5720 Buncombe Road, Shreveport, LA, on Saturday, November 18 at 1:00 p.m.  A celebration of Mimmy’s life led by Pastor Denny Duron will follow at 2:00 p.m.  Services will be under the direction of Rose Neath South, and the burial will be at Forest Park West after the celebration.

We will cherish all the special memories we had with our mom.  Her favorite scripture was Proverbs 3:5,6: “Trust in the Lord with all thine heart…In all thy ways acknowledge Him and He shall direct thy paths…”
