Jackie Pearl Horn Brady was born into this world on December 11, 1933, and went home to be with her Lord on Sunday, April 27, 2025. Jackie was 91 years old. Jackie was a resident of Bossier City, La. She was born in Logansport, La to Albert and Evie Horn. After graduating from Logansport High School, she attended Meadows-Draughons Business School and received a degree in Business in 1952. She was an avid pianist and was said to have dated an up-and-coming singer and musician, Floyd Cramer, and played duets at the Business School Girls Inn with him on the piano. However, during that time, she met a dashing young airman from Barksdale Air Force Base, and she caught his eye and his heart. Mershel M. Brady, commonly known as just ‘Brady.’ They began dating and married on July 2, 1952. Being the wife of an Air Force Airman meant they moved to various Bases throughout the United States, but settled down after Brady’s retirement in Bossier City, La. While living in Bossier City, Jackie became the executive secretary to the president of Life Share Louisiana Blood Center in Shreveport, where she worked for up to twenty years until retirement.
Jackie had a love for books and spent much time reading. She was also a talented seamstress and lovingly made her children and granddaughters numerous outfits. Jackie helped teach Sunday School at Waller Baptist Church and loved the Lord. She loved shopping, walking, and eventually rolling in her wheelchair outdoors. Jackie never met a stranger she didn’t like and often would talk to random people when she was out and about.
Jackie was preceded in death by her father and mother, Albert and Evie Horn; her sisters, Lillian Barry, Oleta Simpson, Vivian Ramsey, Edith Havens, Nora Pendergras, and her husband of 60 years, MM Brady. She is survived by Nan and Tommy Williams, Robin and Curtis Smith, Bruce and Nancy Brady, grandchildren, Lori Harris, Adam Williams, Katie Haley, Angela Williams, Sarah Dougherty, Alex Brady, and Hannah Brady. Also, numerous great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews.
The pallbearers include Alex Brady, Jeffrey Dougherty, Rodney Ramsey, Kenny Smith, Keith Tyer, and Tommy Williams. Honorary pallbearers are Randy Caudle, Dr. C.H. McCuller, MD, Dud Ramsey, Kirby Barry, and Larry Simpson.
The family would love to extend much heartfelt appreciation to Jackie’s caregivers, Ke’Aira, Gloria, Senikka, and Missy, along with Jackie’s numerous friends and staff at Cypress Point Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Bossier. Ya’ll will always hold a special place in our hearts. We also appreciate the kind and compassionate care given by the nurses and staff during Jackie’s final days at The Carpenter House.
