Jack "Butch" Fisher, Jr.

Funeral services celebrating the life of Jack (Butch) Fisher, Jr., 82, will be held on Monday, April 1, 2024, at 1pm at Pelican Baptist Church, 187 Commerce St., Pelican, La 71063. Visitation for family and friends will begin at 12 pm. Officiating the service will be Pastor Lee Rodgers and Pastor Barry McCune. 

Butch was born on April 7, 1941, in Pelican, La. He’s united with his wife, JoAnn, who he was married to for 57 years. To know Butch, was to know he was either hunting for food in the woods or in the kitchen. JoAnn has probably filled up his tea glass multiple times already and made him several batches of tea cakes to go with it. They were blessed with two daughters, one of whom he is having dinner with again after many years apart. Butch spent his working days in the oil field and his latter years on his farm. You could often find him in a rocking chair on the front porch with a cup of coffee looking out over the fields with a dog (or goat) in his lap.

He is preceded in death by his parents Maye Baker and Jack Fisher; wife, JoAnn Fisher; daughter, Gina Nelson; granddaughter, Bobbie Jo Nelson; Great-grandsons, Nathaniel, and Oliver Holcomb; sisters, Joyce Whatley, Bertha Stevens and Jackie Smith.

Left to cherish his memory is his daughter, Patsy (Barry) McCune; son-in-law, Benjamin Nelson; grandchildren, Bridga (Cory) Stricker, Jackson Nelson, and Sara (Stephen) Holcomb; great-grandchildren, Ava, Zoey, Harrison, Ryker, and Alexander; sisters, Jeanne Branch and Maureen Kelly. 

Serving as Pall Bearers are Jerry McCune, Wesley Fisher, Brent Ingvardsen, Timothy Cooper, Justin Cooper, and Joe Caldwell.

The family would like to give a special thank you to Reagan Duckworth, Spring Lake Nursing Home, Nightingale Hospice, and his daughter, Patsy for Butch’s end of life care. He will be greatly missed.
