Jack Edward McEntyre

Funeral services for Jack McEntyre, 85, will be held on Saturday, August 28, 2021 at 10:00 a.m. at Rose-Neath South Funeral Home, 2500 Southside Drive, Shreveport, Louisiana. Burial will follow at Forest Park West, 4000 Meriwether Road, Shreveport, Louisiana. A visitation will be held Friday, August 27, 2021 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Officiating the service will be Jack's Nephew, Greg Luttrull and Pastor Keith Tarkington. Jack was born in Jonesville, Louisiana on July 30, 1936 to Cecil McEntyre and Ireen Hudnall McEntyre. He went to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Monday, August 23, 2021 at his home surrounded by his family. Jack is survived by his wife of 61 years, Betty Luttrull McEntyre, his three children, Mark McEntyre, Donna Duke and husband, Jay, and Terry McEntyre and wife, Tracey; grandchildren, Britney Milner and husband, Jason, Philip McEntyre and wife, Kristi, Lauren Shirley and husband, Josh, Matthew McEntyre, Megan Bailey and husband, Andrew, and Jackson Loper; great-grandchildren, Kassidy Walker and Jack McEntyre; sister, Margaret Culpepper; brothers, Tommy McEntyre and wife, Denice; Donnie McEntyre and wife, Kim, and Reggie McEntyre; and numerous nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his father, mother and stepmother, Bessie McEntyre; sisters, Willie Cockerham and Kathleen McEntyre; brothers, Leroy and Leray McEntyre. Jack served his country while in the US Army. He was stationed in Europe from 1954 to 1957. He received several medals of honor. He was a great asset to his community and surrounding areas in his service in the A/C, heating and appliance business. He was employed by White Westinghouse for 15 years as service manager and retired after 26 years at LSU Shreveport as operator engineer. He enjoyed deer hunting in the hills of Catahoula Parish, fox hunting with his many walker hounds and enjoying the fellowship of the other hunters. Jack's church membership was at Providence Baptist Church but presently was attending Summer Grove Baptist Church. He loved and adored his family and greatly enjoyed having them visit at his country home where he lived for 49 plus years on Colquitt Road. Honoring Jack as pallbearers will be his grandsons and nephews. The family would like to express special thanks to Dr. Noble, Dr. Koticha, and Dr. Sikand for their continued care given over the years and Regional Hospice for their care and compassion given to Jack over the past few weeks. The family suggests memorials may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in Memphis, Tennessee or the charity of their choice.
