Funeral services for Iris Odessa Nelson will be held Monday, February 10, 2020 at 2 p.m. at Rose-Neath Funeral Home Chapel in Minden, Louisiana with Rev. Matt Cate officiating. Interment will follow at Gardens of Memory Cemetery in Minden. The family will receive friends from 5 until 7 p.m. Sunday at Rose-Neath Funeral Home.
Iris was born February 27, 1927 in Pelican, Louisiana and entered into rest February 7, 2020 in Minden, Louisiana.
She was preceded in death by her husband's Bennie Pennington and Max Nelson, parents Steve and Rosa Wilson, daughter Odessa King, sisters Maudie, Doris, Rubye, Katherine, Inez, Joyce and Marlene.
She is survived by her sister Sue Wilson Giddens of Vivian, brother Steve Wilson and wife Jackie of Vivian, son Gene Pennington and wife Margie of Gloster, daughter Becky Schench of Gladwater, Texas, stepsons Glen Nelson and wife Helen of Minden, Gary Nelson and wife Sue of Pearland, Texas, eight grandchildren, sixteen great-grandchildren, and fourteen great great grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Casey Callender, Dewayne Walker, Jay Boyce, Joey Rayner, Chris Lang, and Jason North.
