Ira Slayden Edwards

AZLE, TEXAS- A Memorial service for Mr. Ira Slayden Edwards will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, February 15, 2017 at Rose-Neath Southside Funeral Home Chapel in Shreveport, LA. Visitation will be held prior to the service beginning at 1:00 p.m. A U.S. Army Veteran who served in WWII; he loved gardening and fishing. But more than anything, he loved his family, especially his grandkids, great grandkids and his little yorkie, Raini. They will always miss him dearly. He will be remembered for his huge heart, caring smile, and the prankster that he was. Ira is preceded in death by his father, Forrest Edwards; wife, Inza Edwards; and sister, Ida Irene Edwards. Those left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 44 years, Vicki Edwards; sons, Billy Don Edwards and wife, Tina, and Billy Wise and wife, Faye; daughters, Teresa Sue McCarthy and husband, Terry, Cindy Durfey and husband, Nick; grandchildren, Randy, Dusty, Rebecca, Sarah, T.J. Sean, Jake, and William; ten great-grandchildren; siblings, Don and Gene. The family would like to extend a special thanks to the staff and personnel of The Bradford for their love and care. A special thanks to St. Joseph Hospice. In lieu of flowers, the family suggest memorial donations be made to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital in memory of Ira.
