Funeral services for Ima "Lou" Cavanaugh, 85, will be held on Monday, November 24, 2025 at 10:00 a.m. at Rose-Neath Funeral Home, 2500 Southside Dr., Shreveport, Louisiana. Burial will follow at 2:30 p.m. at Castor Baptist Church Cemetery, 2057 Slagle Rd. in Leesville, Louisiana. A visitation will be held Sunday, November 23, 2025 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Officiating the service will be Rev. Roy Jutze.
Ima Lou was born February 13, 1940 in Louisiana to Gus and Daisy Plummer and passed away on Wednesday, November 19, 2025 in Shreveport. She married Patrick H. Cavanaugh on December 17, 1956. They were married 61 years when Patrick went home to be with the Lord.
Ima Lou graduated from Leesville High School in May 1958. After raising her children, Ima Lou attended Shreveport Vocational Technical School and acquired her associate degree in accounting. She worked as an accountant in various businesses in Northwest Louisiana. She was very involved in the various ministries in support of her husband's pastorate.
Ima Lou enjoyed painting, sewing, gardening, and singing. She had a beautiful soprano voice for singing in the Shreveport-Bossier Choral Ensemble which she did for 23 years. She served as a pastor's wife and song leader at Benson Baptist Church and Carmel Baptist Church. She loved serving in Vacation Bible School with the children of the community. She looked for the best in people, and she enjoyed pulling pranks on others. She looked for opportunities to tell others about her Lord.
Ima Lou was preceded in death by her husband, Patrick H. Cavanaugh; parents, Gus and Daisy Plummer; daughter, Caron Haymon; sister, Carruth Pruitt and her husband, Mark Pruitt; brothers, Buster Plummer, and Palmer Plummer; and great-grandchild, Zachery Haymon.
Ima Lou is survived by her children, Shelly (Roy) Jutze, Janell (Wesley) Brown, and Michael (Marchelle) Cavanaugh; grandchildren, Celice Jutze Turner, Brittany Jutze, Angela Scott Colding, Heather Scott LeBlanc, Rachel Scott, Trey Scott, April Haymon, Carrie Haymon Gann, Colten Cavanaugh, and Ethen Cavanaugh. In addition, she was blessed with 17 great-grandchildren, and four great-great-grandchildren.
Honoring Ima Lou as pallbearers will be Trey Scott, Colton Cavanaugh, Ethen Cavanaugh, Landen LeBlanc, Layton LeBlanc, and Christian Scott. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Ross Favaloro, John Colding, and Lawson LeBlanc.
