Huey Wyatt passed away on the morning of Sunday, April 12 2026, at the age of 90 in his home surrounded by family.
Huey, known to many as Paw and Uncle Bud, was born on January 17th, 1936 in Marthaville, Louisiana, to Arnold Wyatt and Lula Mae Sandifer. He was a member of Mansfield Road Baptist Church where he faithfully attended for over 45 years.
He was a hard worker, retiring from Beaird Poulan and Libbey Glass, but what defined his life most was the way he loved God and loved others. He was generous with both his time and resources, and he truly never met a stranger. Many remember long conversations on the front porch, where he would sit and visit for hours. For years, you could find him tending his garden, watching wrestling, umping at the church ballpark, or sitting at his kitchen table with his Bible open. His faith was the foundation of his life. Even as his eyesight began to fail, the thing he missed most was reading God’s Word.
His life has left a lasting impact across generations, seen in the faith, values, and love for the Lord that continue on through his children, grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Shortly before his passing, he shared that he could not wait to see those nail-scarred hands. We will miss him deeply, but we rejoice in the sure hope of the gospel. He is with the Lord he loved, and one day, we will see him again.
Huey was preceded in death by his parents, Arnold Wyatt and Lula Mae Sandifer; siblings, Arvin Wyatt, Louise McElroy, Cleveland Wyatt, Shirley Feazel, and wife of 60 years Gwendolyn Wyatt.
Left to cherish his memory are his children, Joe Shadoin and Jeff Shadoin and wife, Janual; grandchildren, Stephanie Ezernack and husband, Bobby, Shanna Dinsmore and husband, Jon-Eric and Chris Shadoin and wife, Chelsea; seven great-grandchildren, five great-great- grandchildren, and numerous extended family members.
