A graveside service for Howard Roland Camp, 95, will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, October 2, 2024 at Rose-Neath Cemetery, 5185 Swan Lake Rd., Bossier City, Louisiana. Officiating the service will be Reverend Andrew Brewster.

Howard was born on February 20, 1929, to Allie B. Camp and Irene Camp in Palestine, Texas, and passed away on Friday, September 27, 2024, in Bossier City, Louisiana.

Howard's military service in the United States Army distinguished him as a dedicated soldier, and the values he developed during those formative years remained with him throughout his life. Following his time in the Army, he continued to engage with the world around him, forging lifelong interests that reflected both his curiosity and love for nature.

Among his many passions, Howard delighted in collecting gems and minerals, an activity that showcased his appreciation for the beauty of the Earth. He was also an avid birdwatcher, often found in tranquil settings, capturing the sights and sounds of wildlife. Additionally, Howard practiced woodturning, creating intricate pieces that spoke to his craftsmanship and creativity. His interest in archaeology further illustrated his desire to understand history and the narratives of those who came before him.

Howard's contributions to the lives of those around him will be remembered fondly, as he touched the hearts of many with his kindness, wisdom, and unique interests. His spirit will live on in the memories shared by those who were fortunate enough to know him.

Howard was preceded in death by his parents, and brothers, Franklin Camp, Bobby Gene Camp, Vernon Camp, and Harlan Camp. He is survived by his loving wife of 74 years, Leola Camp; daughters, Sherry Meador and husband, Bill, and Rhonda Souter and husband, James; brother, Don Camp, and his wife, Sally; grandchildren, Kristy Piscacek and husband, Charlie, Greg Meador, Chad Souter and wife, Alex, and Jill Souter; great-grandchildren, Evie Souter and Fleet Souter.

Honoring Howard as pallbearers will be Bill Meador, James Souter, Charlie Piscacek, Greg Meador, Chad Souter, Kristy Piscacek, and Jill Souter.

The family suggests memorials may be made to Bristol Hospice, 9301 Wallace Lake Rd., Shreveport, Louisiana 71106.
