Mary was born on January 24, 1930, in Carthage, Texas to Julian Villarrial, Sr. and Sarah Amador Villarrial, and passed away on June 6, 2022, in Bossier City, Louisiana.
Mary lived a simple life and a country life. In her younger days, she helped with the chickens and things around the house. She was all about her family. Mary was a great mother, grandmother, and sister. She was a good cook and loved to cook. Her grandchildren absolutely loved the fresh tortillas she made. Her hobby was crocheting until her hands wouldn’t allow her to do it anymore. She loved to watch comedy shows and have a great laugh with her family. Mary was a quite sweet lady you would ever meet, unless you made her mad her Spanish would start to fly out of her mouth. She is going to be greatly missed by all.
Mary is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Richard Cruz; sisters, Virginia Villarrial, Cora Villarrial; brother, Julian Villarrial, Jr; and son-in-law, Gerald Simpson. She is survived by her daughter, Debra Phillips Simpson; grandsons, Bradley Simpson, and wife, Lindsay, Kevin Simpson and wife, Charity; numerous great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; sister, Alice Baker; brothers, Tommy Villarrial, Harvey Villarrial, Hershell Villarrial; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Honoring Mary as pallbearers will be Bradley Simpson and Kevin Simpson.
The family would like to give a special thank you to Gloria Villarrial, Tim Baker and Elaine Zettler for their help and for going the extra mile for Mary.
