Funeral service celebrating the life of Helen Fremont Matthews, 94, will be held at 9:00 a.m., Monday, May 11, 2026, at First United Methodist Church , 401 Gum St. Logansport, Louisiana. Interment will follow at a later Date in Galveston County Memorial Park in Galveston, Texas.

Helen Fremont Matthews was born on June 17, 1931, in Galveston, Texas to Jesse Fremont and Helen Jeannette Middleton and passed away May 8, 2026, in Logansport, Louisiana.

Helen was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Logansport, Louisiana.

Helen was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Arthur Matthews, Jr.; sons, William O. Matthews and Daniel Alton Matthews.

Left to cherish her memory are her son, Joseph Matthews; daughter, Joellen Matthews Wilke; grandson, John Evan Matthews and wife Elizabeth; great grandchildren, John Kelly Matthews and Ada Jean Matthews.

The family would like to give a special thanks to Bristol Hospice for the care given to their loved one.
