Family and friends will gather on Saturday, November 1, 2025, to celebrate the life of Helen Kay Boyd Smiddy at Rose-Neath in Arcadia, Louisiana. Visitation will be held from 10:00am until service time at 11:00am. Burial will follow at Mt. Lebanon Cemetery.
Those who knew and loved her called her “Kay Kay.” Kay Kay loved life, children, animals of all kinds, and her family. She never met a stranger, loved visiting with friends and family, and was always interested in the well-being of others.
Kay Kay began her professional life as a beautician before dedicating her life to being a full-time wife and mother. In addition to raising a son of her own, she cared for all her nieces and nephews. Kay Kay loved outdoor activities like swimming, fishing, and gardening and was an active member of Oak Grove United Methodist Church.
Kay Kay was born on December 8, 1945, to James “Jimmy” Boyd and Elsie Turner Boyd in Shreveport, Louisiana. She is preceded in death by her parents, sister, Marsha Salmon, and brothers John and David Boyd.
She is also preceded in death by her daughter-in-law, Carol Harvill.
Kay Kay leaves behind a husband of 61 years, Sam Smiddy, son Stephen, her nieces Elizabeth Rogers of Fort Smith, Arkansas, Suzanne Holst of Minden, Louisiana, and Laura Tucker, and husband John, of Minden, Louisiana, nephew Dr. Clifton Salmon, and wife Martha, of Homer, Louisiana, sister-in-law Ingrid Boyd of Denver, Colorado, and many great nieces and nephews.
She is also survived by step grandchildren Christie Craig, Bobby Harvill and husband, Cody, and Jermey Harvill, and wife Brooke.
The family would like to extend our deepest gratitude to the staff of Passages Hospice and the Columns of Germantown. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to LaMa Animal Rescue.
