Helen Dolan

A Mass of Christian Burial celebrating the life for Helen Ludmilla Dolan, 79, will be held 10:00 a.m. Saturday, December 11, 2021 at St. Jude Catholic Church, 4700 Palmetto Road, Benton, Louisiana, with Celebrant Father Karl Daigle and Concelebrant Father Joseph Martina. Burial will follow at Rose-Neath Cemetery, 5185 Swan Lake Spur, Bossier City, Louisiana. A visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Friday, December 10, 2021 at Rose-Neath Funeral Home 2201 Airline Drive, Bossier City, Louisiana. The Rosary will begin at 7:00 p.m. Helen was born on July 10, 1942 in Erin, Minnesota to Frank and Agnes Novotny. She passed away peacefully surrounded by her husband and children on December 6, 2021 at her home in Bossier City, Louisiana. Helen and the love of her life, Gerald Dolan, were married on October 17, 1964 at Our Lady of Grace Church in Edina, Minnesota and shared 57 wonderful years together. They had five wonderful children together. Helen loved her family deeply and dedicated most of her adult life to raising and supporting her husband and children. She was a devout Catholic and allowed her faith to guide her in every aspect of her life. She loved every role she had as a wife, mother, sister, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was gifted in all forms of artistries but she especially enjoyed needlepoint and sewing. She found great joy in sharing her works of art with family and friends. Helen is preceded in death by her parents; her brother Clarence Novotny and grandson Michael Gerald Pearson. Those left to cherish her memory include her husband, Gerald Dolan; children, Mary Zamora and husband, Alexander, Andrea Pearson and husband, Michael, Kathleen Vercher and husband, Scott, Jason Dolan and wife, Melissia, Frank Dolan and wife, Sarah; grandchildren, Alexander Zamora, Jr., Sarah Douthit, Grace Vercher, Emma Vercher, Joseph Pearson, Travis Vercher, Katelyn Dolan, Julie Dolan, Hannah Dolan, Abigail Dolan; great-grandchildren, Kayden Zamora, Catherine Douthit; brothers, Fr. Jerome Novotny, OMI, James Novotny and wife, Lorraine, David Novotny and wife, Sandy, Frank Novotny and wife, Gayle; and numerous nieces and nephews. Honoring Helen as pallbearers will be Michael Pearson, Scott Vercher, Alexander Zamora, Jr. and Joseph Pearson. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Alexander Zamora, Sr. and Travis Vercher.
