Minden, LA Helen Lockhart Brewer went to be with her Lord on September 26, 2018 in Minden, Louisiana. Helen was born June 13, 1924, to Winston and Willie Blake Lockhart in Ringgold, Louisiana. She graduated from Heflin High School in 1942. She was a homemaker, a retiree of Civil Services. She loved to cook and sew, and was known for her handicrafts. She loved her church, Lakeview United Methodist, taught the Ladies Bible Class for over 40 years and loved those she called "her ladies". She loved her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She felt blessed to have lived such a long life and she said many times she felt she was the most blessed person around. Mrs. Brewer was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, Clint Brewer, son, Larry Brewer, parents, brothers, Jack Lockhart and Cary Lockhart, and sister-in-law, Alcie Lockhart. Surviving her are her son, Gary Brewer and wife Pam of Glenwood Springs, Colorado, daughter-in-law, Toni Brewer Harris and husband John of Hot Springs, Arkansas, six grandchildren, Blake Brewer and wife Amanda, Natalie Brewer, Marcus Brewer, Zak Brewer and wife Julia, Caroline Vaden and husband Steve, Winston Brewer, and great-grandchildren, Sophia, Jack, and Benjamin Vaden, GracieKate and Bo Brewer, nieces, Marilyn Elliott, Nancy Gauthier, and Carolyn Scott, and nephew, Keith Lockhart, all of Shreveport. Funeral services will be held Saturday, September 29, 2018 at 10 a.m. at Lakeview United Methodist Church in Minden Louisiana with Pastor Kathy Wafer officiating. Graveside service will follow at Gardens of Memory in Minden under the direction of Rose-Neath Funeral Home in Minden. The family will receive friends from 5 until 7 p.m. Friday, September 28, 2018 at Rose-Neath Funeral Home. Pallbearers will be her four grandsons, Blake, Marcus, Zak, and Winston Brewer, and Keith Lockhart and Mike Brewer.
