Born in Sarepta, La on July 7, 1925, to Gerden & Mary Alice Bradley, Hazel Geneva Bradley married the love of her life, Charles Ernest Tyler, on October 25, 1946, and moved to Cotton Valley, La where Ernie was the principal and head football coach at Cotton Valley High School. Together, they raised four beautiful girls, and ultimately settled in Minden, La, where Ernie concluded his career at the Webster Parish School Board and Hazel retired from the Webster Parish Food Stamp Office.

As an active member of First Baptist Church Minden for over fifty years, Hazel enjoyed serving her church as often as possible, as a greeter, in the prayer room, and raising money for youth. Hazel was famous for her cooking, especially her fried pies and homemade bread. She was happiest serving others, and her greatest joy was her family.

Hazel was preceded in death by her husband of sixty-two years, Charles Ernest Tyler, daughter Marolyn Tyler Lasuzzo, and great granddaughter Emerson Ashton Shurley.

Survived by daughters Rita Carrier & husband Barry, Mary Ann Newman and husband Dan, and Rala Tyler. Grandchildren Holli Dixon & husband Phil, John Carrier and wife Cara, Kimbi Johnson, Tyler Rominger and husband McLeod, Kori Shurley & husband Scott, Kaleb Newman and wife Gina. Great grandchildren Bradley Dixon & wife Madison, Grant Dixon & Elizabeth Dixon, John David & Jackson Carrier, Wyatt, Walker, Whit & Westin Johnson, Porter & Evangeline Rominger, Grace & Emmaline Shurley.

Pallbearers will be Hazel’s grandsons and great grandsons.

Funeral services celebrating the life of Hazel B. Tyler will be held Thursday, January 5, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. at First Baptist Minden in Minden, Louisiana with Bro. Leland Crawford and Bro. Steve Gilley officiating. Interment will follow at Gardens of Memory in Minden, Louisiana. The family will receive friends Thursday at 9:00 a.m. at the church prior to the service at 11:00 a.m.

The family would like to thank the nurses at Intensive Specialty Hospital in Bossier City, Willis Knighton Rehab and all the Memory Care workers at The Blake in Bossier City for the love and care they showed Hazel over the last several years.
