Funeral services for Hazel Baxley DeLude, 90, will be held on Wednesday, September 15, 2021 at 10:00 a.m. at Rose-Neath Funeral Home, 2500 Southside Dr., Shreveport, Louisiana. Burial will follow at Centuries Memorial Park Cemetery, 8801 Mansfield Rd., Shreveport. A visitation will be held Tuesday, September 14, 2021 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Officiating the service will be Pastor Chris Wilcutt. Hazel was born on February 18, 1931 to Newt and Odie McDonald Baxley in Mansfield, Louisiana and passed away on Thursday, September 9, 2021 in Shreveport. Hazel was a resident of Keithville and worked as an ICU Registered Nurse at Willis-Knighton before retiring. She was very active in her life and bowled up until she was 87. She loved crocheting, working crossword puzzles, playing softball and volleyball. She had the health and energy of someone much younger. She was a member of Grawood Baptist Church where she was a member for 50+ years. Hazel is preceded in death by her husband, Alden DeLude; parents; sisters, Helen Veillion and Myrtle Davis; and brother, Newt Baxley, Jr. Left to cherish her memory are her children, Vern (Nora) of Keithville, LA; Susan (Kevin) Wiebel of Ft. Lauderdale, FL and Robert (Linda) DeLude of Waskom, TX; brother, Frank (Joyce) Baxley, Colorado Springs, CO; sisters, Mary Tucker, Joanne McCraw of Shreveport, LA; grandchildren, Austin and Alex Wiebel, Lee DeLude, Tyler Tullis, Brandy Abernathy and Wendy Palmer; great-grandchildren, Ty Tullis, Beckett and Adaline Abernathy, Taylor Scriber, Brady Wiebel, Grace Wiebel and Rangley Wiebel. Honoring Hazel as pallbearers will be Tyler Tullis, Riley Otwell, Drew Abernathy, Kevin Wiebel, Alex Wiebel and Austin Wiebel. The family would like to express special thanks to Dr. Gandhi and the Willis-Knighton staff for the excellent care given to Hazel. The family suggests memorials may be made to Shriners Hospital or Grawood Baptist Church.
