Harold Lynell Nichols, known to nearly everyone as "Nick," passed away on March 15, 2026. He was 78-years-old, born on November 16, 1947, in Alexandria, Louisiana. Nick was the proud father of four children and devoted husband for 45 years until his death. Nick was a proud veteran of the United States Army, where he earned his Sharpshooter Badge, Good Conduct Medal, and National Defense Medal. His fearless spirit showed up early and never left. After his military service, he built a long and dedicated career as an electrician with AT&T, spending over 35 years in the manufacturing industry.
If you knew Nick, you knew the man was so much more than his résumé. He was a wild horse, a charmer, a prankster, and the kind of guy who could light up any room just by walking into it. He loved a good time, and he made sure the people around him had one too. Whether he was cruising on his Harley, shooting pool, fishing on the lake, or watching his favorite sports or playing them. He loved golf, softball, football and boating. Nick lived life on his own terms and with a grin on his face. He was funny, loving, and absolutely fearless, and he was adored by more people than could ever be counted.
Nick is preceded in death by his parents, James C. and Colleen Nichols; and his son, Steve Nichols. Left to cherish his memory is his wife, Patricia Nichols; daughters, Michelle Nichols Deering, Nikki Nichols, Tamara Nichols; grandchildren, Drew Deering, Marissa Deering, and Xander DeWitt; brother, Rodney Nichols and his wife, Mary; sister, Carolyn Nichols Bowden; niece, Christy Nichols Boethel; nephew, John Nichols; and his faithful dog, Blu.
A visitation will be held at Rose-Neath Funeral Home, 2500 Southside Dr., Shreveport, Louisiana from 12:00 p.m. until the start of the funeral service at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 28, 2026. The family invites Nick's family and friends to come celebrate his life. Burial will follow at St. Ann's Cemetery in Stonewall, Louisiana. Officiating the service will be Rev. Mark Faust.
Honoring Nick, as pallbearers will be John Nichols, Rodney Nichols, Drew Deering, Howard Ebarb, Jr., Ryan Ebarb, Jared McDaniel, Greg Wallace, Joel Steen, and Cody Nichols. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Xander DeWitt, Jim Daily, Bobby Webb, Pete Wilson, and Bill Offet.
Nick may have left this world, but those who loved him hold tight to the promise found in Romans 8:38, that neither death nor life, nor anything in all creation, can separate us from the love of God. Ride on, Nick.
