Gwendolyn Woodard Wyatt passed away on the morning of Saturday, March 25, 2023, at the age of 85 surrounded by family and holding the hand of her husband of 60 years.
Gwen was born on March 20, 1938 in Coushatta, Louisiana, to John Carlton Woodard and Irene Shaver. Gwen spent her years loving and serving those around her. She was happiest when she was surrounded by her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Gwen – better known to everyone as Granny – opened her home to everyone. She was a welcoming presence, and friends quickly became family. You often would find Granny sitting outside on the porch with a cup of coffee chatting about her favorite topic – her family. Granny was a follower of Christ. She loved Jesus deeply and would tell anyone who would listen about the goodness of God.
Granny was preceded in death by her parents, John Carlton Woodard, Irene Hill, and Walter Hill; sister, Sue Cortinez; mother-in-law, Lula Mae; and sister-in-law, Shirley Feazel.
Left to cherish her memory is her husband of 60 years, Huey Wyatt; brother, Donald Wayne Hill; children, Joe Shadoin; daughter-in-law, Candy Shadoin; Jeff Shadoin and wife, Janual; grandchildren, Stephanie Ezernack and husband, Bobby, Shanna Dinsmore and husband, Jon-Eric, Chris Shadoin and wife, Chelsea; seven great-grandchildren, two great-great grandchildren, and numerous extended family members.
The family would like to thank Holly Sepulvado for her love and care for Granny these last few years. You were a constant companion for her, and we are so grateful.
The family suggests memorials may be made to Shreveport Christian Academy, 8501 E. Kingston Road, Shreveport, LA 71118.
