Funeral services for Gracie Mae McCray Meek, 81, will be held on Friday, March 25, 2022 at 1:00 p.m. at Rose-Neath Funeral Home, 2500 Southside Dr., Shreveport, Louisiana. Burial will follow at Oak Grove Cemetery, Simsboro, Louisiana. A visitation will be held at 12:00 p.m. until service time at the funeral home on Friday. Officiating the service will be Brother Tom Brown. Gracie was born to John Taylor "Alf" McCray and Mary Jane McFarland McCray on September 9, 1940, at Rural Four Corners, Arcadia, Louisiana. She married Jimmie Ray Meek, November 21, 1959. Together they had three children, Jimmie Wayne, Wendell Todd and Sheila Diane. She spent her early years in Arcadia and attended Simsboro High School where she graduated valedictorian in May 1958. After getting married, Gracie and Jimmie moved to Shreveport where they raised their three children. She and Jimmie were married 61 years, surviving together many ups and downs life delt them. In their golden years, they lived together at Garden Park Nursing Home in Shreveport. Gracie was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Jimmie Ray; brother, Douglas; and several aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. Left to cherish her memory are her children, Jimmie Wayne of Haughton, Louisiana, Wendall Todd of Mandeville, Louisiana, and Sheila Diane and Bo Wilson of Huffman, Texas. She is survived by 12 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; and her brother, James Taylor, of Georgia. She will always be forever in our hearts. Honoring Gracie as pallbearers will be John Clayton Provenza, Kyle Allen Wilson, Terry Michael Meek, Christopher Dewayne Meek, Cody Wayne Meek, Chase Owen Meek, Joshua Todd Meek, and Logan Kyle Meek. Special thanks go to Terry and Leigh Anne Meek for all their care, love and support of Gracie, and the staff at Garden Park for the love, care and compassion given to Gracie while she was there. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials may be made to the Lymphatic Education and Research Network at lymphaticnetwork.org
