Gloria Jean Kerry

Gloria Jean Kerry, 88, went to meet her Lord and Savior on Friday, October 23,. 2026 of complications from pneumonia.

Gloria was born in Cloutierville, Louisiana. She attended St. Mary's Catholic School in Cloutierville and later graduated from Natchitoches High School.

She moved to Shreveport where she worked as a long distance and teletype operator prior to her marriage. She was a devoted wife and mother who spent most of her time immersed in all three of her children's extracurricular activities. She was a very accomplished seamstress and enjoyed sewing. She also spent many years as a talented painter of ceramics. She was a stay-at-home mom until 1980. She then worked 27 years for the Catholic Diocese of Shreveport as a Teacher's Assistant at Holy Rosary and St. John's, where she eventually retired in 2008.

A very devoted woman of faith, Gloria was a longtime member of Holy Rosary and Sacred Heart Catholic Churches, where she served as a lecturer and sang in the choir. She very much loved singing, which led to her late-in-life love of Karaoke.

She is preceded in death by her husband of 51 years, V.L. "Koonie;" and son, Randy Kerry; her sister, Shirley Landrum; and her parents, Bill and Anna Brossette.

Left to cherish her memory are her children, Lisa and Bruce Kerry; numerous nieces and nephews; and several wonderful in-laws, especially Connie Romero, Faye Goss, Judy Hernandez and Marvin Kerry with whom she shared life-long special bonds and her special niece, Marva Taylor.

Honoring Gloria as pallbearers will be her nephews: Rand, Joe and Mike Kerry, Chris Romero, and Rick and Kenny Landrum. Serving as honorary pallbearers include: Aaron Kerry, Darrin and Allen Kerry; Jim, Johnny and David Kerry and Lance and Brian Goss.

The family would like to thank Dr. Huan Le and the staff on 5 West at Willis Knighton North, for their wonderful care and kindness. A special thanks to Jennifer Moore, ADON who always "tried." Lastly, from the bottom of our hearts, we thank Sharon "Best Friend" and Cassandra Latchie, CNA.

Special thanks to Father Fidel from Christ the King Catholic Church for all of his support and comfort he gave to Gloria during her illness and transition to Heaven.

Gloria was a great lover of animals, especially her dogs, throughout her life. In lieu of flowers, the request that donations be made to any local animal shelter or rescue.
