Gloria Brown Green

Gloria Brown Green went to her heavenly home on Thursday, November 11, 2021 surrounded by her family. Visitation will be held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, November 16, 2021 at Rose-Neath Funeral Home, 2500 Southside Dr., Shreveport, Louisiana with the funeral service beginning at 11:00 a.m. Burial will immediately follow at Centuries Memorial Park in Shreveport. Officiating will be Reverend Dennis Sims and Reverend Charles Hall. Gloria was born on December 4, 1931 in Pleasant Hill, Louisiana to Francis and Eva Brown. Gloria and her beloved husband Harold lived over 50 years in Logansport, Louisiana, where they faithfully served the First Baptist Church of Haslam and the First Baptist Church of Logansport. After moving to The Glen in Shreveport, Gloria enjoyed the services of Ellerbe Road Baptist in the Cooper Chapel. There, she formed many close friendships over a mutual love of the Lord. Gloria never met a stranger, she loved meeting new friends and talking with old ones. In conversations with most people, it was almost always discovered that, one way or the other, they were from Pleasant Hill. Her children often laughed that Pleasant Hill must be the original Garden of Eden, because according to Gloria, everyone came from there. Gloria's love language was food. She loved to cook, but she always apologized at family dinners. She would say that her rolls were not fluffy, her pie crust was too hard or her dressing too dry. Those of us lucky enough to sit at her table knew that what she was really saying was that she loved us all beyond measure, beyond what any perfectly cooked hot water cornbread could convey. Her faith and her family were her dual full-time vocations, and her dear husband, sisters and brothers, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren knew the steady constant of her love and attention. When she wasn't enjoying conversations about old times in Pleasant Hill, she delighted in hearing what the youngsters were up to. Gloria was preceded in death by her husband, Harold Lewis Green; son-in-law, Ernie Beauvais; daughter-in-law Ann Green and her sister, Murline Ponder. She is survived by a son, Harold Britten Green; daughters, Deborah Green Sutton and Rhonda Green Beauvais Anderson and husband, Hank; sisters, Laverne Bell, Ruth Brown and Sharon Roberts and brothers, Glen Brown, Charles Brown and Cecil Brown. She was blessed to have three grandchildren, Elizabeth Beauvais, Addison Beauvais and Brooke Nolte and husband, Nick. She was equally blessed with six exceptionally brilliant great-grandchildren, Charlotte, Henry and August Abney, Liam Beauvais and Britten and Hayden Nolte. Gloria also loved her fur baby, Gigi. Gigi and the Gloworm, as she was affectionately called, had many deep and meaningful conversations! Honoring their aunt as pallbearers are Donnie Bell, Dennis Bell, Randy Ponder, Gary Ponder, Richie Brown, Chris Brown, Blake Roberts, Cail Roberts, Cary Brown and Gaylon Brown. The family would like to thank the caring and compassionate nursing staff at Christus Schumpert, especially Chad, Chris, Lindsey and Kathy. Great beams of gratitude are also due to physicians Dr. William Haynie and nurse Cory, Dr. Rodney Reeves, Dr. Himanshu Desai and Dr. Thomas Causey. Gloria's caregivers, Elaine Phil and Marilyn Douglas, occupied a special place in her heart, and she quickly came to love Elly Coe and Nicky Boone, who also compassionately cared for her in the last few weeks. The family suggests memorials may be made to First Baptist Church of Logansport, 1009 Gum Street, Logansport, LA 71049, Ellerbe Road Baptist Church, 10705 Ellerbe Road, Shreveport, Louisiana 71106, The Glen Retirement System, 403 East Flournoy Lucas Road, Shreveport, Louisiana 71115 or the charity of the donor's choice.
