Glenda Anne Shipley

Glenda Anne Shipley passed away in her home in Bossier City on August 20, 2026. She was 80 years old. Glenda was born on November 30, 1945, in Winnsboro, Louisiana.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Claude and Doris Nichols, and her sister, Faye Holyfield.

She is survived by her brother, J.E. Nichols; son, Todd Dick and wife, Brandy; daughter, Tosha Lester and husband, Brian. She was a loving Granny to two granddaughters, Lynnzee Dick and Hannah Lester; one great-granddaughter, Hallie Cordell. Her girls were such a special part of her life and brought her so much joy. Glenda also leaves behind a niece and many nephews, and countless numbers of lifelong friends.

In the 80's, Glenda moved to East Texas, where she met many of the friends she would go on to cherish for the rest of her life. When she returned to Bossier City in 2013 to be closer to her family, her house quickly became what she jokingly called 'Grand Central Station.' Friends, family, all were welcome to pass through. It was never quiet, whether you were staying or just wanting to sit and visit. Glenda was so much fun to be around, always funny, and independent even in the face of health struggles. She never allowed anyone to do for her what she could do for herself. The depth of sorrow her family and friends feel only scratches the surface of how deeply she was loved.

Services for Glenda will be held on Wednesday, August 26, 2026, at Rose-Neath Southside Chapel in Shreveport. Visitation will be at 11:00 a.m. with the service at 12:00 p.m. and burial to follow at Forest Park West Cemetery in Shreveport.

Pallbearers will be Mason Cordell, Chase Benoit, Pat Hickey, Dylan Randol, Logan Holyfield, Rusty Wilkerson, and honorary pallbearer Patrick Randol.

The family would like to thank all the home health staff who worked with Glenda, and special thanks to her nurse, Amber, whom she considered a friend.
