Glenda "Gigi" G. Brandao Gertson

Glenda “Gigi” G. Brandao Gertson, 75, went to meet her Lord and Savior on Saturday, August 16, 2025 in Shreveport, Louisiana. She was born on December 17, 1949 in Shreveport, Louisiana to Loretta Pierce and Loyola Hubert Brandao.

Gigi graduated from St. Vincent Academy and attended Louisiana Tech University. Prior to college, she was a children’s dance teacher of tap, ballet and jazz. She was married for 22 years while serving in medical offices for over 30 years, primarily as a cancer patient’s advocate before retiring.

Gigi cared for and supported her two youngest brothers, Chris and Curt, throughout their lives. They spent every summer visiting her until they started college. She had a profound influence on their lives. With her loving example, she instilled in them an empathetic nature to love and care for others. She was a guiding light and source of inspiration throughout their lives. For these and the many other blessings she brought, we are eternally grateful.

Gigi is preceded in death by her mother, Loretta Pierce Brandao; father, Loyola H. Brandao; brother, Curt Lance Brandao; grandmother, Vyna Byrd Pierce; and uncle, Richard G. Pierce. Left to cherish her memory are her brothers, Christopher S. Brandao, Timothy B. Brandao; and cousin Randall Pierce.

A graveside service for Gigi will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, September 22, 2025 at Hurricane Cemetery, Hwy. 519 in Athens, Louisiana. Officiating the service will be Rev. Tommy Davidson.
