Funeral services will be held for Mr. Marcus Gilbert Ledbetter, age 86, at Holly Ridge Assembly of God, 861 Holly Ridge Road, Haynesville, LA, on Tuesday, April 14, 2026, at 1:00 p.m., with Rev. Rodney Gray, officiating. Interment will be at Holly Ridge Cemetery in Haynesville, LA. Visitation will be at the church from 10 a.m.-1 p.m., prior to the service.

Gilbert was born April 16, 1939, in El Dorado, AR, to Parks and Iris Wilson Ledbetter. He entered into peaceful rest of his Lord on April 12, 2026, at his residence. Gilbert attended Summerfield High School where he played the sport he loved, basketball. After graduating from high school, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy. Once out of the Navy, Gilbert would spend his summers working with his brother in Wyoming on drilling rigs. Gilbert was a certified heavy equipment operator where he worked for many different pipeline companies before he chose to retire. He spent 14 years taking care of his precious wife Betty, until her passing. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, trapping, fishing, and woodworking. Gilbert always puts his family above everything. He loved being with his grandbabies and great-grandbabies.

He is preceded in death by his wife of 53 years, Betty Jean Carter Ledbetter; great-grandson, Carson Brazzel; parents, Parks and Iris Ledbetter; four brothers, David Ledbetter, Malvin Ledbetter, Stacy Ledbetter, and Jerrell Ledbetter; and three sisters, Maurene Pace, Edna McCulley, and Christine McDougal.

Left to cherish his memory is son, Mark Ledbetter and wife Lisa of Summerfield, LA; daughter Karen Ledbetter of Summerfield, LA; two grandsons, Josh Davis and wife, Michaele, Heath Ledbetter and wife, Hannah; two granddaughters, Ariel Avery and husband, Delaney, Morgan Brazzel and husband, Chris; fourteen great-grandchildren, Melodie Finch, Emma Finch, Gavin Finch, Jacob Finch, Hailynn Howe, Baylor Davis, Reid Davis, Paxton Davis, Ava Smith, Emmy Smith, Kinnison Ledbetter, Kimber Jean Brazzel, Billie Mae Brazzel, and Noah Brazzel; sister, Betty Lou McCowan; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Gilbert’s family would like to express their gratitude to his sister, Betty Lou McCowan, for her loving care over the last couple months. Also, “Thank You,” to Dr. Clifton Salmon and Dr. William Bundrick along with their staffs, and Cindy Norment and staff of Bristol Hospice for all their care and support shown him during his final days.

Pallbearers will be Mark Ledbetter, Heath Ledbetter, Josh Davis, Kevin Davis, Greg Williams, Chris Brazzel, Danny Ledbetter, and Keith Gray.

Honorary pallbearer will be Wade Foster.
