Gilbert L. Lawton

Gilbert L. Lawton, 91, of Shreveport, passed away peacefully on December 15, 2025, after a long, healthy and active life. He is now reunited with his treasured wife of 60 years, Ann H. Lawton, in heaven.

Gil had a storied career in Government and Commercial businesses working as a Parole Officer, IRS officer and Loan officer. He was content to retire and enjoy a quieter life. He was intellectually curious, always reading, learning and tinkering, a hard worker with a long list of projects to accomplish. He loved and was passionate about family, close friends, nature and time outdoors.

Gil was predeceased by his parents, Alton and Ione Lawton. He was the youngest of five siblings and predeceased by his three brothers, AC, Bob and Jim, as well as his sister, Yvonne. 

He is survived by three sons: Rick, of Minden, LA, Dell of Chicago, IL and Randy of Houston, TX, as well as five grandchildren and five great- grandchildren.

A Memorial Service will be held at St. Paul's Episcopal Church, 275 Southfield Road, Shreveport, Louisiana on Saturday, January 17, 2025, to celebrate his life.
