Gertrude Emma Baker

A graveside service for Gertrude “Blackie” Baker, 92, will be held on Wednesday, May 31 2023 at 11:00 a.m. at Forest Park West Cemetery, 4000 Meriwether Ave., Shreveport, Louisiana. Officiating the service will be Dr. Scott Teutsch.

Gertrude was born on September 14, 1930 to John and Dollie Lowe in Gilbert, Louisiana and passed away Monday, May 22, 2023 in Shreveport, Louisiana.

Gertrude was a resident of Shreveport and worked 35 years at Midwest Farms. She was happily married to her husband of 49 years, John T. Baker. Gertrude loved to spend her free time traveling with her great friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, John T. Baker and grandson, Kevin L. Chester. She is survived by her sister, Helen Hanshaw; daughters, Sandra Key and husband, John and Susan Houston and husband, Pete; grandchildren, Deborah Dupont and husband, Shannon, Jay Key and Tammie, Christopher Key and Nikki, Megan Feibel and husband, Dr. Ben Fiebel, Katelyn Dupont, Jesse Key , Drew Key, Katie-Claire Feibel and Benji Feibel.

The family of Mrs. Baker suggests memorials may be made to Louisiana Baptist Childrens’ Home, P.O. Box 4196, Monroe, Louisiana 71211-4196.
