A graveside service for Gerald Glen Amburn, 95, will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 20, 2022 at Forest Park West Cemetery in Shreveport, Louisiana. A visitation will be held from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at Rose-Neath Funeral Home, 2500 Southside Dr., Shreveport, Louisiana. Officiating the service will be Brother Harold Ashcroft.
Gerald passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family. He lived a full and blessed life. Gerald proudly served his country in the United States Navy, enlisting during World War II and retiring after 22 years. Gerald was a member of Kingston Road Baptist Church for many years. His greatest joy was spending time with his family and Thanksgiving dinner.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Eddie Amburn; sister, Norma Amburn and precious grandson, Tony Compas. He is survived by his wife of almost 70 years, Sue Amburn; son, Terry Amburn and wife, Janet; daughters, Carolyn Swank and husband, Rick, Sandy Burford and husband, Richie and Barbara Graves and husband, Tony; eight grandchildren, Kelli, Kathy, Troy, Tracy, Emily, Jessica, Richard and Ryan and several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
Honoring Gerald as pallbearers will be his grandsons and great-grandsons.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place Memphis, TN 38105 or the charity of your choice.
