George Reed Terry

George “Reed” Terry of Blanchard, Louisiana passed away on Thursday, August 24, 2023, at the age of 81. Reed died peacefully with his family by his side.

Reed was born February 15, 1942 to father, William Calvin Terry  and mother, Susie Owens Terry, the ninth of twelve children.

Reed retired from Kansas City Southern Railroad, where he worked as a building and bridge supervisor. He especially loved his family. He loved to fish, hunt, and garden. When he fished, he caught the most, when he hunted, he killed the one with the biggest rack, and when he gardened, his plants grew past the roof. There are pictures to prove it. 

Reed was preceded in death by his parents, his eleven siblings, and his great granddaughter Heaven Weed. 

Left to cherish his memory is his wife of 62 years, Melinda House Terry; his children: Tammy Terry Weed (Charles); Delbert Terry(Ranée); His grandchildren: Bradley Weed (Chasity), Jessica Weed (Tim), and Jeremy Weed (Michelle); and Noah Terry; and his great grandchildren: Gage Hartley (Paige), Landon Peters and Patience Whittington; Talian Weed, Tyron Weed; Tyson Weed, and Naomi Weed. 

Honoring as pallbearers will be Ronald Dale Cruse, Barry Terry, Noe Gabriel, Wren Terry, Jason Dubois and Seth Brown. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Noah Terry, Roger House, Rick Bryant, Jeremy Weed, Bradley Weed, Blue Renard and Charles Farmer.

A celebration of life is planned for Saturday, August 26 with his son, Pastor Delbert Terry officiating. The service will be at 12:00pm at the Blanchard Church of the Nazarene, 251 N. Main St. Blanchard. Visitation with the family will begin at 10:00 am before the service.
