George Kenneth Stewart was born on April 9, 1940 in Bradley, Arkansas. He left this world on March 4, 2021 from his home in Dubberly, Louisiana surrounded by family.
Ken is survived by his wife of 59 years, Dawn Glass Stewart, and their children, Shannon Stewart Brown and husband Johnny; Kenneth Michael Stewart and Erin. Ken adored his grandchildren, Savannah Brown Jones and husband Blake, John Curtis "JC" Brown, Krystopher Stewart, Ashton Stewart, Dylan Stewart and Cole. In addition, he is survived by his sister, Ruby Mitchell Dodez and sister-in-law, Myra Glass Jones who lived with Ken and Dawn. He had numerous nieces and nephews.
Ken is preceded in death by his dad, Melvin "Curly" Stewart, mother, Tina Reed Stewart Carter and brothers, Dugan and Etsel.
Ken grew up in Doyline, Louisiana. He graduated from Doyline High School where he was a proud member of the basketball team. He received a scholarship to Northwestern State University where he played football until he joined the Navy in 1959. He was a member of Brushwood United Methodist Church.
Ken was a real cowboy. He loved his horses especially Gorgeous George who he named after himself. Ken was his grandchildren's biggest fan. He never missed a barrel race, basketball game or football game. Ken left this world with the peace of knowing that he and the Good Lord had it all right. Ken said his final days were his happiest and most peaceful. He will be missed by the ones he has left behind, but he is rejoicing with the loved ones that went before him.
Graveside services will be held Sunday, March 7, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. at Brushwood Cemetery in Dubberly, Louisiana under the direction of Rose-Neath Funeral Home in Minden, Louisiana. Officiating will be Rev. Brock Childers. The family will receive friends from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. Saturday, March 6, 2021 at Rose-Neath Funeral Home in Minden, Louisiana.
