George Edward Plaxco

George Edward Plaxco of Shreveport, Louisiana, passed away on September 10, 2025, at 97 years old. He was born on January 21, 1928, in Shreveport where he lived his whole life.

George served in the Naval Reserves for nine years. He was an accomplished bowler for many years. He owned and operated Royal Plan Service drawing thousands of house plans for the residents of Shreveport and surrounding areas. He was a faithful member of St. Mark’s Episcopal Cathedral where he served as an usher for many decades.

The last three years of his life were spent at Savannah Assisted Living in the Oaks of Louisiana. He loved playing penny poker every Wednesday. He enjoyed the meals and being taken care of by the staff.

George was preceded in death by his wife of 47 years, Billie Newell Plaxco, brother Leland Plaxco, and parents John and Ruth Plaxco. He is survived by his son, George Edward Plaxco, Jr. and wife, Roslyn, of Shreveport, Louisiana; daughter, Elizabeth Plaxco Brocato and husband, Rickey, of Cypress, Texas; and daughter, Janet Plaxco Sumrall and husband, Kim, of Fulshear, Texas.

George has seven grandsons with spouses: Christopher and Catie Plaxco of Shreveport; Patrick and Richard Quincy of Shreveport; Adam and Jessica Brocato of Cypress, Texas; Mark and Jessica Brocato of Cypress, Texas; Matthew and Andrea Sumrall of Potomac, Maryland; Kevin and Nicole Sumrall of Fulshear, Texas; and Andrew and Kourtney Sumrall of Austin, Texas.

George has 15 great grandchildren: Knox and Max Plaxco; Evelyn, Dylan, Nolan and Olivia Brocato; and Lina, Max, Mila, Kira, Lily, Addie, Mandy Jane, Kinsley and Alice Sumrall.

George’s final resting place will be St. Mark’s Episcopal Cathedral Columbarium.
