George Michael Fort

Funeral services for George Michael Fort, 78, will be held on Thursday, August 19, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. at Rose-Neath Funeral Home, 2500 Southside Dr., Shreveport, Louisiana. Interment will follow at Forest Park West Cemetery, 4000 Meriwether Road in Shreveport. A visitation will be held Thursday, August 19, 2021 from 10:00 a.m. until service time. Officiating the service will be Pastor Keith Tarkington. George was born on May 12, 1943 in Longview, Texas to Henry and Estelle Fort and passed away on Monday, August 16, 2021 in Shreveport, Louisiana. George was a resident of Keithville and worked for Avaya for 34 years before retiring. He first and foremost loved the Lord and his family. He was an avid sportsman with a love of hunting and fishing as well as motocross and drag racing. He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather and friend to many. He will be greatly missed. George is preceded in death by his parents; and son, Michael Neal Fort. Left to cherish his memory is his wife of 24 years, Delores Fort; children, Michael Brandon Fort and wife, Amanda, of Shreveport and Michelle Greer and husband, James, of Karnack, Texas; grandchildren, Zachery Fort, Dianna Fort, Michael Keegan Fort, Jessie Greer, Aaron Greer, and Nickie Greer; great-grandchildren, Grayson Greer, Gannon Greer, Jessie James Greer and Rileigh Greer; and daughter-in-law, Lisa Fort. Honoring George as pallbearers will be Dillon Turner, Randy Jordan, Jacob Moran, John Fultz, Zachery Fort, Keegan Fort, Brandon Fort and Jesse Greer. The family suggests memorials may be made in George's name to the church he loved so much, Summer Grove Baptist Church, 8924 Jewella Ave., Shreveport, Louisiana 71118.
