George Curtis Merritt, Jr.

Funeral services for George Curtis Merritt, Jr. will be held Sunday, September 14, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. at Rose Neath Funeral Home Chapel in Minden, Louisiana with Bro. Scott Carter. Interment will follow at Bistineau Cemetery in Heflin, Louisiana with military honors. The family will receive friends from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. Saturday, September 13, 2025, at Rose Neath Funeral Home in Minden, Louisiana.

George was born on December 19, 1941, in Minden, Louisiana and entered into rest on September 11, 2025, in Heflin, Louisiana. He served his country in the United States Army. George retired from KCS Railroad after 41 years of service.

He was preceded in death by his father, George Merritt, Sr and Mother Maxine Merritt and his wife Sarah Wise Merritt.

He is survived by his sons, Adam W. Merritt and wife Sherry Hollis Merritt of Minden and Paul C. Merritt and wife Kara Fremin Merritt of Youngsville, sister, Sherry Merritt West and husband Ray West of Elm Grove, grandchildren, Wyatt Merritt, Landry Merritt, Kennedy Champagne, and Colton Merritt, niece, Monica W. Reed and husband Matthew, brother-in-law, Maurie Wise, and nieces, Sarah Wise, Missy Vanderzee, and Chrissy Wise.

Pallbearers will be Colton Merritt, Wyatt Merritt, Landry Merritt, Scotty Mizell, Shawn Brunson, and Brian Glymp.

Honorary pallbearers will be Phillip Poland and Ray West.
