George R. Davis

George Ray Davis, age 84 of Minden, left his worldly home to be received into his heavenly home on June 27, 2025. George was born on April 29, 1941, in Dubach, Louisiana to Ray and Carmen Davis.

George helped his mom raise his 4 younger siblings after his father’s passing, then went on to start his own family with his wife of 51 years Twyla Davis, daughter Kim and son Chris. George drove a truck cross country for over 30 years before going to work for Murphy Brothers in Arcadia, where he retired in 2011. George spent his retirement chopping wood or in his chair posted on the porch watching traffic go by. Most people that knew him either called him by Walkin’ Tall, Tallman or Pops and he never met a stranger. George never met a stranger and you never wondered what was on his mind because he unapologetically told you.

George was preceded in death by his parents.

Those left to cherish his memory include his wife, Twyla of 51 years, daughter, Kimberly Lindsay (Randy) of Blanchard, son Chris Davis (Missy); 5 grandchildren, Shelby (Kaleb), Hailee, Kleaton, Kyler and Kaleb; and 1 great grandchild, Amelia. Two brothers Bill Davis (Anne) and Sidney Davis; two sisters, Pat Patterson (Claude) and Mary Morrow (Tony), several nieces and nephews and extended family and friends.

Pallbearers are Don Hanry, Ray Hanry, Jonathan Holman, Jimmy Pepper, Patrick Green and Eric Childress. Honorary Pallbearers Robert Pepper, Aaron Galbraith and Hunter Hanry.

Visitation will be from 5 pm to 7 pm on Monday, June 30, 2025, at Rose Neath in Minden. Services will be at Rose Neath on Tuesday, July 1, 2025, at 10 am, with Chaplain Jeff Joyner officiating. Bury will follow at Fuller Cemetery.
