Gayla eloped with the love of her life, George Manshack, Jr., when she was only sixteen years old. They made their home in Converse, Louisiana and welcomed the quick birth of their three children. Gayla and George were married for 56 years at the date of his death. Even after his passing in 2016 she celebrated every wedding anniversary.
At home there was always a pot of coffee brewing and a homemade dessert to devour. She delighted in cooking Sunday dinner and holiday meals, bringing family together around the table with meals made with love. She had a green thumb and looked forward to tending her lilies and rose bushes.
Gayla was a loving mother, grandmother, and great grandmother.
Gayla retired as a custodian at Converse High School with 29 years of service. Watching students grow and learn, and the friendships of staff at CHS was a joy she spoke of often.
She was preceded in death by her husband, George Jr. and two sons, George Randle and Roger Dale Manshack, whom she now joins in eternal salvation. Also, her father Cecil Howard Woodle; mother, O’Leta Mae Maxey Woodle Thornton; brothers, Floyd “Buddy “Woodle and Jerry Woodle.
