Gary was born on May 29, 1953, in Shreveport, Louisiana, to Willie Clifton and Marjorie Othell Davis Grimsley. He grew his wings to be with his Heavenly Father on Friday, October 6, 2023, in Bossier City, Louisiana.

Gary graduated from Bossier High School in 1971. At a young age, he loved to fight, so the Dement Brothers decided to put those skills to good use. He also learned and loved to ride a motorcycle at a young age. We have yet to hear how he convinced his mom to let him have his first bike. Gary was a gun ENTHUSIAST; he spent many hours reloading his bullets. He also spent many hours teaching his children gun safety, target practicing, sighting in guns, and picking up every bullet shell for him to reload. He was a welder at KCS Railroad and a mechanic at the maintenance shop at SWEPCO. He was a gifted guitarist and played with his best friends Tim LeBleu and Bobby Masters in the southern gospel band Shiloh in the 80's. Keith and Rickey Plunkett later joined the band. Gary's hobbies were forging knives and leatherwork. He was an outstanding artisan. He was a Jack of all trades. Gary was a devout Christian and brought many to Christ. He was well versed in the Bible and would give his shirt off his back to help anyone in need without hesitation or judging them.

Gary is preceded in death by his parents, Willie Clifton Sr. and Marjorie Othell Grimsley.  He is survived by his beloved wife of 14 years, Edna A. Rodriguez Grimsley; brother, Willie Clifton Grimsley Jr.; mother of his children, Terry Posey Scott; Sons, Aaron Grimsley and KJ Nesser; Daughters, Rachel Grimsley Murray and husband, Rusty Michael, Rebecca Isbell Grimsley, Tania Nesser, Marisa Sanchez and husband, Timothy Sanchez; 13 grandchildren; 3 Great-grandchildren and numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews.

Honoring Gary as pallbearers will be Aaron Grimsley, Rusty Murray, KJ Nesser, Craig Grimsley, Chase Grimsley and Lee Roland. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Jordan Isbell, Hunter Heiby, Mario Rodriguez, Robert Rodriguez, Scott Havens, David Nall and Brannon Hughes.

The family wants to thank his closest friends, Tim LeBleu, Bobby Masters, Tommy Williams, Tim Dement, and Brother Randy Harper, Pastor of Bellaire Baptist Church in Bossier City, Louisiana, for their visits, phone calls, and prayers. Gary was a member of Bellaire Baptist Church in Bossier City, Louisiana, and played in the Praise Band at Bellaire. Gary adored his wife, children, and grandchildren. Gary was a fighter until his Heavenly Father said it was time to come home. He also loved, and when he did, his love was true love to the core.

I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. 2 Timothy 4:7 (NIV)
