Lewis of Haughton, LA, grand-daughter Chloe Delayne Lewis Hart and her husband Partick Hart of Benton, LA, sister-in-law Celeste Lewis of Haughton, LA, nephews J.J. Lewis of Bossier City, LA, Stephen Lewis (wife Jamie) of Shongaloo, LA, Blake Robertson (wife Amber) of Shreveport, LA, Brandon Evans (wife Nicci) of Keller, TX, nieces Stephanie Lewis Ellett (husband Darren) of West Monroe, LA, Christy Lewis Honea (husband Matt) of Haughton, LA, Morgan Duchon (husband Neil) of Keller, TX, sister-in-law Sandra Robertson Bardwell Murray, nephew John Bardwell (wife Cindy), sister-in-law Judy Robertson Magness Worley (husband Bo) and Melanie Magness Sienna (husband Peter) of Plantation, TX, numerous great nieces and nephews and his beloved dogs, Angel and Sugar. The family would especially like to thank Dr. Mohammed Syed and Dr. Robert Martin for their extraordinary skill as physicians and for giving us hope when we needed it most. And to the staff at Heritage Manor West, your compassion and kindness will forever be remembered.

Garland lived a long, full life marked by hard work, strong hands, and a generous heart. As a retired plumber, he spent decades serving his community with the kind of craftsmanship and reliability that earned him respect in the plumbing community and lifelong friendships. He believed in doing things right the first time, and those who knew him will remember his quiet pride in doing excellent work.

As a man of many interests and talents, Garland could build or fix anything and everything. His talent to create and build lead to many hobbies throughout the years. From flying model airplanes, riding dirt bikes, dirt track racing, CB Radios, enjoying classic cars and cars shows and a lifetime of hunting and fishing. He especially enjoyed deer and turkey hunting. Those that hunted with him knew how he loved to build very elaborate hunting stands. In his late 30’s he discovered golf. From then on, he could almost always be found on the golf course. Golf wasn’t just a hobby for him—it was his joy, his escape, and his favorite way to spend time with friends. Whether he was chasing the perfect swing or simply enjoying the sunshine with his buddies, the golf course was his happy place.

For Garland, growing older had a way of softening the spirit and bringing into focus the things that truly matter. His journey naturally drew him closer to God—not out of fear, but out of understanding, gratitude, and a deeper sense of purpose. In his later years, his small worries faded and the big blessings revealed themselves. I once asked dad, when you get to heaven, will you save me a seat? He said “you can count on it”.

Honoring as pallbearers will be JJ Lewis, Stephen Lewis, Patrick Hart, James Gilliam, Rusty Williford and Robert Brown.

Honorary pallbearers will be all of his golfing buddies (especially the hackers, whackers and wiffers) at Crooked Hollow Golf Club in Greenwood, LA
