Fred Norman Lamb

Fred Lamb of Bossier City, La died December 29, 2025. He was born May 12, 1959, in Savannah, Ga.

Fred had lived mostly in Bossier City since 1966 when his father was stationed at Barksdale AFB. Fred previously lived from 1963-66 at Goose Bay AFB, Labrador, and before that Savannah, home then to Hunter AFB.

In Bossier, Fred attended Curtis Elementary and Parkway High School. He graduated in electrical engineering from Louisiana Tech University in 1981 and pursued a career in information technology. His career led him to Arkansas Louisiana Gas Co. (Arkla) in its Shreveport office, continuing through its evolution to CenterPoint Energy, from which Fred retired eight years ago.

Fred shared a lot of time with friends: camping and canoeing at Lake Greeson and Caddo River in Arkansas; July 4th celebrations at Lake Bistineau; teeing off and sinking golf balls; going to the New Orleans Jazz Festival or perched atop a Bourbon Street balcony for Mardi Gras or later in Shreveport for parades; with his front yard full of friends annually watching the Thunderbirds or Blue Angels soar above Barksdale's nearby flight line; in his man cave-like house with the guys watching their beloved Saints and other games or playing cards or darts; or he'd simply listen to a wide-ranging taste in music genres and artists, work newspaper crosswords and puzzles or play video games; grow fresh vegetables; and was often amused by cat antics caught on cameras outside his house.

With family, he cruised to the Caribbean once, preferring land though he enjoyed the voyage and managed to make some friends among strangers aboard the ship. Twice in recent years, he took family beach vacations that included his grand nieces and nephews.

Travel also took him to Puerto Rico and the Netherlands, with a side trip to Germany.

Fred is preceded in death 26 years to the day by his father, Msgt. Bobby Lamb Sr. of North Carolina, last residing near Baton Rouge.

Fred is survived by his mother, June Strickland of Bossier City; brother, Bobby Lamb and wife, Madelyn of Baton Rouge; niece, Melissa Melancon and husband, Ashton and their young children Eisley, Ezra and Lucy of Baton Rouge; nephew, David Lamb and wife, Helene and their young children, Areignia and Denver of Bethesda, Md.; and sister-in-law, Marsha Shuler of Baton Rouge.
