Services honoring the life of Mrs. Frances Nelson Joyner will be held on Sunday, November 2, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. at Rose-Neath Funeral Home in Arcadia. Visitation will be held from 12:30 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. prior to service on Sunday. The burial will follow at Mt. Mariah Cemetery.
Frances Nelson Joyner, 87, of Arcadia, Louisiana, entered into the presence of the Lord on October 29, 2025. She was born in Mt. Mariah community on October 28, 1938, to Willie Lee Nelson and Annie Mae Bridges Nelson. She was married to Rev. Larry Joyner, who predeceased her on October 30, 2017, and served with him in pastoral ministry at Bethel Baptist Church in Red River Parish, and Mt. Lebanon Baptist Church in Bienville Parish. Frances served as Deputy Clerk of Court with Clerk Rupert Sledge from the mid-1960’s until his retirement and her election as Clerk in July of 1988. She served as Clerk until her retirement in 2000.
Frances was the beloved mother of three daughters, Patti Joyner of Homer; Connie Joyner Storey (Randy) of Minden; and Nancy Joyner Durrett of Arcadia. She is predeceased by her brother, Elmer Nelson, and her grandson, David Perkins.
The rich legacy of Christian faith and service to Jesus Christ that Frances exemplified is passed down to her loving family, including grandson Dan Durrett (Emmy) of Simsboro and his two children, Landon and Kelly Ann; and granddaughters Rebecca Durrett Hammons (Cody) of Quitman and her two children, Kaylee Grace and Parker; and Rachel Huckabee French (Daniel) of Shreveport and her two children Caleb and Callee. Also included in the family are numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins, along with loving, devoted friends in Bienville Parish.
Pallbearers for the service will be Daniel Durrett, Cody Hammons, Randy Storey, Caleb French, Phillip Joyner, Bruce Eaves, and Tim Murphey. Honorary pallbearers are Landon Durrett, Daniel French, Mark Murphrey, Guy Ben Murphrey, Ben Eaves, and Jake Eaves.
