Frances E. Baker

 Funeral services for Frances E. Baker, 82, of Benton, Louisiana will be held on Friday, July 28, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. at Cypress Baptist Church in Lagniappe Hall, 5701 Palmetto Road, Benton, Louisiana. Burial will follow at Rose-Neath Cemetery in Bossier City. A visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until time of the service. Officiating will be Reverend Tommy Patton.

She was born in West Monroe, Louisiana on January 5, 1941, to Willie and Juanita Guess and passed away Saturday, July 22, 2023, after a short illness.

Frances graduated from West Monroe High School and has fond memories of working and modeling for the Palace. She married the late Robert “Bob” Earl Baker on March 12, 1966. Frances’ passion first and foremost was her Lord and Savior and her family. Her proudest accomplishments included her two daughters, Rene McClure and Michele Swanson. Her two grandsons, Kyle McClure and Jake Skipper, and great-grandsons, Luke and Logan McClure.

She was an active member of Cypress Baptist Church. She enjoyed going to all of the local gospel singings, Benton Garden Club, Women’s Republic, gardening, shopping for beautiful clothes, entertaining, spending time with friends, decorating, cooking and traveling. She was blessed to have a very long and happy life.

Frances was preceded in death by her husband, Bob Baker; parents, Willie and Juanita Guess and brother, Charles Guess. Frances is survived by her daughters, Rene McClure and Michele Swanson; grandsons, Kyle McClure and Jake Skipper; great-grandchildren, Luke and Logan McClure; sons-in-law, Brent Harris and John Swanson; and siblings, Robert Guess, Geneva Andrews and Patsy Ellerbe.

Honoring Frances as pallbearers will be, Lavelle Reeves, Brent Harris, John Swanson, and Dr. Steen Trawick. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Kyle McClure and Jake Skipper.

Our family would like to express special thanks to Dr. Steen Trawick and the medical staff at Christus Highland Medical Center for the care and compassion that was given to Frances and her daughters.
