Frances Delora Hughes

The stock market lost its most prolific amateur advisor who was well-known for her sage stock advice and near like inside trading tips. Frances Delora Loe Hughes, 91, passed away at her home on May 13, 2022. Visitation will be held from 5:00-7:00 p.m. Wednesday, May 18, 2022 at Rose-Neath Southside Funeral Home and services will be held Thursday, May 19, 2022 at 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home. The interment will be held at Forest Park West Cemetery immediately after the service. Officiating the service will be Paul Navarre. Frances began her journey on June 14, 1930 in Bienville, LA. She was born to Edgar and Annie Mae Loe as the ninth of 11 children. She graduated from Bienville High School in 1948 with a scholarship to Northwestern University. She began her long and very successful career with South Central Bell, retiring with 36 years of service in upper management. Her goal was to be retired as long as she worked, and she exceeded that goal with 40 years of retirement! She cherished the relationships she formed over the years at the telephone company and remained close to many throughout her life. And today, she would tell the CTI group "I do just right." She was a proud member of Woodridge Baptist Church and the Telephone Pioneers. She was always competitive and an overachiever. Ask anyone that ever played any sport against her. She excelled in basketball, softball, swimming, bowling and ask anyone who dared to challenge her in ping pong. She was pretty awesome at that too. Her sense of humor was unforgettable and she always kept you laughing. She was the full package - brains, talent, looks, and personality. Her greatest accomplishment was a loving and beautiful family. She leaves to cherish her memory, her son, Rickee Hughes (Erin); daughter, Vicki D. Hughes; two grandchildren, Angie Rivera and Casey Hughes (Aleisha); three great-grandsons, Ralynd Nunley, Korbyn Rivera, and Caden Hughes; two sisters, Jean Fair Jones and Juanita Anderson (Bruce); one brother-in-law Robert Hughes; and many dear nieces and nephews. And of course, her special granddog, Tutu, her protector. She was preceded in death by her husband of 57 ½ years, Shirley "Chuck" Hughes; her parents; sisters, Mabel and husband, RW Emery, Charlotte and husband, Robert Jackson, Ann and husband, NY Crawley, Marie and husband, George Pittman, Nancy and Lewis Walker; brothers, Lloyd, Daniel and David Loe. Honoring her as pallbearers will be her nephews, Bill Emery, Ronald Loe, Robin Fair, Jackie Richardson, Mike Hughes, and Bubba Hines. Special thanks to her great-grandson, Ralynd, for the love, devotion, and care he gave Frances that allowed her to remain in her home. She leaves this world a better place because of her being here. Honor her memory by being kind and enjoy laughter. Until we are reunited, we love you. Thank you for your special love and constant devotion to us. You were the BEST Mama and Mamaw.
