Floyd Hathman Jordan was born August 28, 1939, in Blanchard, La. to John Jordan and Pearl Atkinson Jordan and passed away peacefully in his home surrounded by family on April 14, 2026.

Floyd dedicated his professional life as a truck driver and protecting and serving his community as a member of the Red River Parish Sheriff’s Department, where he proudly rose through the ranks to retire as Captain. Those who knew Floyd well will smile at the memory of him behind the wheel of his patrol car, because if there was one thing Floy Jordan loved, it was driving that cop car fast. Floyd was a man of unwavering faith who carried the gospel with him wherever he went. Though he never had a church of his own, he never needed four walls to preach – the word went where Floyd went and Acts 2:38 was never far from his lips or his heart. He was devoted to his beloved wife Mary “Peewee”, with whom he shared 65 years of marriage, and to the family they built together. Sundays were his favorite day – the house full, the kids and grandkids gathered after church for Sunday lunch, exactly the way he liked it. In his later years, Floyd found quiet joy in the morning coffee on the back porch, seeing, watching the birds and squirrels, and whatever sweet treat he could get his hands on. He loved fishing, he loved his family, and he loved Jesus.

Floyd was preceded in death by his parents, his sisters; Julie, Natalie, and Patricia, his brother; William “Mac”, his son; Floyd Jr. “Bubba”, his daughter; Lisa, two grandchildren; Floyd and Mary Jordan, and a great grandchild; Karissa.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 65 years; Mary Floyd, his daughters; Tina Martin, Lavette and husband, Kenneth, Melissa and husband, Terry, and Rebecca and husband Hoyt, daughter in law; Linda, and son in law Rufus “Greg”. Floyd also leaves behind several grandchildren: Perry, Patrick and wife Kady, Krystal, Kristie, Jono, Jordan and wife, Jorgi, Devan and wife Breanna, Raven, Robin and husband D.J., Ashley and husband, T.J., Shelby and husband, Austin, P.J., Shayne, and Brianna. Floyd will also be missed by a host of nieces, nephews, 28 great grandchildren, and 2 great- great grandchildren.

Honoring Floyd as pallbearers will be Devan, Jordan, Patrick, Perry, Dakotah, and Kameron. Serving as honorary pall bearers will be Jon and P.J.

The family would like to give special thanks to Christus Coushatta Hospital and Hospice of Natchitoches for their kind and considerate care. And thank Jesus Christ for sharing Floyd’s beautiful soul to the world. You will be missed Papaw.
