Felder L Straus

Felder Leon "Pete" Straus passed away peacefully at his home September 30, 2016 surrounded by loved ones. Pete was born November 24, 1930 to Eula Mae and Willis Straus. He was a member of Hunter/Magnolia Baptist Church and the Grand Lodge of Louisiana Mount Vernon Lodge #83 in Logansport for 50 years. He graduated from Stanley High School in 1949 and the served 4 years in the Navy during the Korean War. After completing his 4 years in the Navy, he worked in the oil fields starting out as a roughneck and working his way up to an oil consultant. He worked in many foreign countries. Pete was preceded in death by his parents, two wives, one son Art Straus, and brothers David \"Butch\" Straus and Bobby Harper. He is survived by his third wife, Gay Nell Liles Straus of 12 years, three sons, Glen Straus and wife Julie of Las Vegas, NV, Rodney Straus and wife Lee of Las Vegas, NV, Peter Straus and wife Jodi of Toledo Bend, LA, Four Daughters Cheryl Grill and husband Chuck of Las Vegas, NV, Rhonda Moran and husband Mike of Buena Park, CA, Vera Purlita Haun and husband Kevin of Long Beach, CA, Audrey Reynolds and husband Mike of Blackwell, OK, brother, Chester \"Cooter\" Straus, and a host of grandchildren and great grandchildren. The family will receive friends at Rose-Neath Funeral Home in Mansfield, LA, Friday, October 7, 2016 from 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM. Funeral services will follow at 11:00 AM and be officiated by Rev. Richard Tull and Hospice Pastor, Rev. David Permenter. We convey special thanks to these pastors and Rev. Armador Santos for their visits and continued spiritual support throughout Pete's lengthy cancer bout. The family would like to express a very special thanks to his lodge members for their loving support with prayers, phone calls, taking Pete to Shreveport for radiation treatments and doctor's visits. They were always available for us. Pete requested cremation and family and friends will be dismissed following the funeral service. In lieu of flowers, we ask that you send donations to the building fund at Magnolia Baptist Church, 173 Magnolia, Mansfield, LA 71052.
