Faye McGinty Gordon passed away peacefully April 10, 2026, at the age of ninety-eight following a lengthy illness. She was born in Athens, Louisiana on February 10, 1928.
She married the love of her life, Albert Gordon, Christmas Eve 1946, and missed him every day after he passed away in 1998.
She lived most of her ninety-eight years in the McIntyre community. McIntyre was always near and dear to her heart, especially her fond memories growing up with the Davis and Johnson families.
Faye graduated from Doyline High School in 1945. She then began working at Barksdale Air Force Base processing soldiers returning home from World War II; a job she found both rewarding and humbling.
She worked various other jobs, including tax season at West Brothers, and part-time for Dr. C.S. Sentell. She began working at the Louisiana Ordnance Plant (LAAP) at A-100 in 1962, and as secretary on S-Line. She then became the communications operator, a job she loved, alongside her good friend, Charlie Francis, until she retired in 1994.
Faye showed an interest in music at the age of three. Her father encouraged her and was instrumental in seeing that she took piano lessons. She felt she had been blessed with the talent to play and used her gift to serve the Lord.
Faye was the organist for Rose Neath Funeral Home in Minden until 2019. She considered everyone at Rose Neath her second family. She was also pianist for Antioch Baptist Church, where she was a long-time member, until her health no longer allowed her to play.
She enjoyed canning and making homemade jelly, especially mayhaw, which she loved to share. Many a person was gifted a pint of her “famous” jelly and cinnamon cucumber rings.
Faye was generous to friends, family and strangers, and always willing to help anyone in need.
She loved her family fiercely and was most proud of her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great- great- grandchildren.
Faye was preceded in death by her parents; Robert Richard “Rich” McGinty and Vera Woodall McGinty; her husband, Albert Gordon; and her sisters, Esther Smith and Mary Crowell Hicks.
She is survived by her children; Dennis Gordon and wife, Mary, of Minden, Brenda Sumrall of Bossier City, and Debbie Sinclair and husband Lyn, of Minden; grandchildren; Nancy Carol Holmes of Heflin, Richard Gordon of Minden, Courtney Marlin of Blue Springs, Missouri, and Elizabeth Roddy of River Ridge, Louisiana; also, eight great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren, along with a host of nieces and nephews she loved dearly as her own; and special friends, Susan Smith Fields and Larry Milford, with whom she spent many joyful hours playing and sharing music.
The family would like to give a special thank you to the staff at Town and Country Nursing Home and Passages Hospice for their loving care.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, April 15, 2026, at 11:00 o’clock, at Rose Neath Chapel in Minden. Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. until time of service. The Reverend Bill Crider will officiate. Interment will follow at Gardens of Memory in Minden, Louisiana.
Pallbearers will be Richard Gordon, Robert Gordon, William Holmes, Alex Gordon, Travis Roddy, and Tim Sumrall.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Antioch Baptist Church, Louisiana Baptist Children’s Home or donors’ choice.
Matthew 25:23-Well done, good and faithful servant.
